Robin White
Cochran, Georgia

Biography
"I am a lifelong creative with a background in writing who started exploring poetry as a teenager.

I experimented with different forms and when I discovered haiku found a poetry muse, which in turn ignited a love for painting as I illustrated my original poems. My main medium for art is watercolor, along with splashes of gouache, ink, pencil, charcoal, acrylic, and collage.

I'm Southern born and bred - a life-long resident of Middle Georgia, minus a year in Savannah and three years in Atlanta. I love old-time gospel and soul food; I pull over for funeral processions, can drive a stick shift, and not go in the ditch on a muddy red clay road. I'm a refugee from the 80s. I love hair metal and guys who look better in make-up than me. Sarcasm is my second language and music has been the background sound of my life."

Artist's Statement
Caterpillar
"Sitting in a rocking chair on my grandparents front porch in the hot Georgia summer, I would watch the fat catawba worms inching along the branches, nibbling the green leaves of the Catalpa tree that flourished at the corner of the porch. My grandpa would catch them for fish bait and we would go to my uncle's pond where he always baited my hook on my little cane pole and took and fish I caught off. I cherish the memories my grandpa and I made, all because of Catawba worms (though I did feel bad for the worms!)"

Fall Flowers Falling
"Fall is my favorite time of year. The heat of summer slowly fading; the cool mornings a joy. The leaves brilliant as they change colors, the faded flowers still lovely. It is comfortable to sit outside and drink coffee or tea without the incessant buzzing of mosquitos."

Spring Cacophony
"One of my favorite parts of spring is when the Queen Anne's Lace blooms. The delicate white flowers glow against green grass and blue skies. My mom always included some in her fresh bouquets with hydrangeas, their white blossoms complementing the pink and purple hydrangea bunches."

Form and Function
"A woman's body goes through many changes throughout her life. In each era of life, the form and function work together."
