Mary Harris Prizes Essay Readings
Join us at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum for an inspiring evening as participants in the annual Mary Harris Prizes Essay Contest share their essays on the fascinating and complex history of the Coshocton frontier!
Set in the 18th century, this region was a vital crossroads for Indigenous peoples, European settlers, and American pioneers, shaping Ohio's early identity. Through a blend of personal reflections, historical insights, and storytelling, the authors bring to life the rich and diverse experiences of the people who once called this area home. This reading night offers a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of Coshocton’s past, celebrating the voices of writers passionate about preserving Ohio's frontier heritage. The readings will take place on November 21st at 6:00 PM. The 2024 Mary Harris Prizes Essay Contest awards will be announced and awarded at the end of the program. No registration is needed. This program is offered at no charge and made possible with the support of Dr. Scott Butler and the Ohio Arts Council. |
