Registration will not be required but is appreciated. You may register by calling 740-622-8710 or emailing events@jhmuseum.org.
March 24th - Jennifer Altman, Director of Historic Sites and Museum, OHC: Did you know that eight 2,000 year old American Indian Earthworks in Ohio are being considered for addition to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List? This list includes the world’s most significant cultural and natural sites—places like Stonehenge, Notre Dame, Machu Picchu, and the Grand Canyon. Come learn why the Newark Earthworks, the sites at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, and Fort Ancient belong in the company of these incredible places. Jennifer Aultman, Ohio History Connection’s Director of Historic Sites and Museum, will share about the history of these remarkable sites, the long and winding World Heritage inscription process, and how you can support Ohio’s World Heritage effort as we (hopefully!) approach the finish line in 2023!
April 7th - Brad Lepper, Senior Archaeologist, OHC: Dr. Lepper will discuss the Great Hopewell Road, a set of parallel earthen walls built by the ancient Indigenous Hopewell culture sometime between A.D. 1-400 and its importance to the Hopewell people and culture.
April 21st - Tim Jordan, Site Manager Flint Ridge Ancient Quarries and Nature Preserve
May 5th - Jarrod Burks, Director of Archaeological Geophysics
