August 14th @ 6:00 PM
|
Jessie Dorsey Green (1874-1971) and Gertrude Dorsey Brown (1876-1963) were born and raised in Coshocton. They both graduated from Coshocton High School, the only African American members of their respective classes, and went out into the world and did some amazing things. Jessie, a nurse and educator, helped found a school that later became Voorhees University. Gertrude was a gifted writer whose work has been included in prestigious anthologies. Join us on August 14th at 6:00 PM as we take a look at the life and times of these amazing women and how they were shaped by their local upbringing and the historical events taking place in the wider world. They leave behind an inspiring legacy of which all Coshoctonians can be proud.
