Join us on June 25th at 6:00 PM at The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum for a journey through Coshocton’s Black history! In honor of Juneteenth (also known as "Freedom Day"), we will explore and celebrate the lives of five Black residents of Coshocton who thrived in spite of difficult circumstances and left their mark on the place we call home. We will begin with Letty Thomas, a formerly enslaved woman who became Coshocton's first Black business owner, and we'll conclude with Lula Williams, a beloved community member who witnessed extraordinary changes over the course of the century she lived in Coshocton.
This program will be led by Lucy Bryan Malenke, co-founder of Coshoctonians for Peace and Equality, JHH Museum Archivist Abigail Callis, and JHH Program Coordinator Holli Rainwater. |
