Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at Oklahoma State University in 2015, and his Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at Wichita State University in 2024. Artist's Statement
"Fresh mop heads in bloom (atarashī moppu ga saki) Invite the sparrows to rest (suzume o maneki yasumaseru) A clear day in Spring (hareta haru no hi)." This work is an homage to Kachō-e (花鳥絵), Japanese prints and paintings featuring birds and flowers. Seeking to capture the beauty of nature, this genre explores the symbolic meaning of how all things fit together. Here, a group of tree sparrows, seen as heralds of joy and good fortune, gather overturned mop heads which represent the gentle ritual of cleaning and maintenance.
