Upcoming Regional Photography Exhibit

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum wants to showcase regional photographers in our upcoming photography exhibit. This is an open call. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual or experimental. The only criteria for entry is that artists must be at least 18 years old and must reside, work, go to school, or have grown up in Coshocton, Muskingum, Licking, Holmes, or Tuscarawas Counties.

Entry deadline is August 8th, 2021. Entrants will be notified of acceptance within 12 days after the deadline.

Please read the following information carefully before submitting any artwork. It is the responsibility of the artist to read and understand all guidelines and criteria. For questions or concerns, please contact JHM by phone or email.

ENTRY FEE
$15 for up to TEN (10) entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry. Fees are non-refundable. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid by U.S. check made payable to THE JOHNSON-HUMRICKHOUSE MUSEUM, or by credit card via Square. If paying by Square, we will send a secure invoice to your email address. Any fee payment must reference your name, or we must be notified if another party is paying your fee.

What Is My Fee Used For?
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum (JHM) is a non-profit and publicly-funded museum.  All proceeds from entry fees fund project-related expenses. Our board of directors and small dedicated staff work hard to make involvement with JHM projects well worth the effort and cost to do so. It is important to note that this fee is the only cost charged by JHM for participation. Simply by participating in this exhibit you are helping this nonprofit organization do its work and achieve its mission.

SUBMISSION OF IMAGES
JHM accepts only digital images/files for consideration. See specifications below. JHM will retain the submitted images of accepted artwork and reserves the right to use the images in publications and museum publicity. By this we mean that artists retain copyright, but JHM is granted the nonexclusive right to use and reproduce accepted images for promotion of show, artist, and museum. Title & artist will always be included in promotional materials.

Digital images can be submitted on CD or by e-mail (send to: events@jhmuseum.org). Hi-Res, print-quality images will be requested for accepted works upon conclusion of the selection process. If suitable images are not provided, the work may not be included in the exhibition.

Entry Image Specifications:
All entry files must be named with title (underscore) artist’s last name (underscore) first name (i.e. SunriseOverBridge_Jones_Mike.jpg).

Information for detail images should NOT be included on the entry form. The image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, images should be no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction (about 13”) and 72dpi. This should result in most image files ranging from 700kb to 2mb in file size but this is only approximate.

Be ABSOLUTELY sure you are sending files at the correct size AND that your email app. does not automatically downsize the attached images when sending. Apple Mail, for example, provides a setting for resizing attachments in the new message composition window (lower right corner).

Images must be oriented properly (i.e. top of image is top of artwork) and should not include text info or borders that are not part of the actual work.

SALE OF ARTWORK
Artworks are not required to be for sale to be included in our exhibition. It is required that works are indicated as either "for sale" or not for sale (NFS) on the submitted entry form. JHM will retain a commission of 20% of the sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition. Artists set the sale price on the entry form. Sale price and status cannot be changed after the deadline to submit.
