January and February mornings were a
busy time for Museum staff for they were devoted to annual
tours for Coshocton City Elementary School students. In the
first grade, students are introduced to all the galleries and
the culture each represents. As students progress through the
grade levels they receive a more in-depth look into each
gallery’s offerings: Ohio and local history, Native American
life and experiences, Asian art and culture. Tour information
follows the benchmarks indicated in the Ohio Social Studies
curriculum. It is our intention to foster in students an
on-going awareness of the world’s peoples and cultures, and a
curiosity about how their lives in contemporary society have
been impacted by others as well as how their actions influence
future generations.

Jan. 23 moms, dads and kids from The Coshocton County literacy
group spent time at JHM enjoying a light supper, participating
in a scavenger hunt and then creating a related art project.

Dick Hoover generously presented several programs related to our
vintage toy exhibit. Toy Talk, geared for adults, highlighted
the history of comic book or mechanical toys. For Child's Play,
kids showed up on a Sat. morning with parents or grandparents in
tow. A special evening was also spent with Bigs and Littles from
Coshocton Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Mr. Hoover used a different
tack for the younger set, explaining the types of energy used to
generate movement in a variety of toys from his personal
collection. Young and "mature" audiences alike were fascinated
to observe the toys as they spun, tottered and va-rooooomed! We
are grateful to Dick for carting all his toys to the Museum
again and again and AGAIN!

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum Foundation
In the summer of 2006 The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum Foundation
initiated a special gifts campaign for preservation and exhibit
support to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the museum.
Prospective donors were invited to participate by adopting an
artifact or a special preservation project. The generous
response of 33 donors provided $18,840 in sponsorship for needy
artifacts.
