Teen-Age Talent Opens with a Gallery Hop
April 8 5:00—7:00 P.M.
Teen-age Talent, a special exhibit featuring high
school art, will open with a reception on Friday, April 8 from 5:00 –
7:00 P.M. The public is invited to the opening
event as part of a gallery hop put on in collaboration with The Pomerene
Center for the Arts and Attik 3:16. The menu and entertainment will be
geared for the teen crowd since their work is the focus of this exhibit.
ELI, a favorite local rock group, comprised of Mike Remy, Tom
Davis, Stephen Frankland and Mike Deran will provide their brand of an
original and classic musical mix. (Continued on page

Meter and Movement Spring Tea
Saturday, April 30 at 2:00 P.M.
As part of the annual Dogwood Festival, JHM will once
again host a Spring Tea, scheduled on Saturday, April 30, at 2:00
P.M. A special program entitled Meter and
Movement will feature dancer Holli Rainwater who will perform
interpretive dance to poetry selections relating to spring. Holli’s
poignant performances always evoke glowing responses. The menu will
include a delectable assortment of sandwiches, savories and sweets, and
of course, a variety of teas. This is an event you won’t want to miss.
The cost is $12 per person and reservations will be taken through April

Pushing the Surface Special Exhibit
May 22—July 31
JHM’s biennial art quilt exhibit, Pushing the
Surface, will open with an artists’ reception on Sunday, May 22nd,
3:00—5:00 P.M. Notable artists from across the United States as well as
Australia, Ireland, Japan and South Africa will contribute works that
are contemporary interpretations evolving from the traditional quilt. A
range of techniques is represented, including traditional and machine
quilting and embroidery, photo montage, painting, dying, appliqué, and
laser printing. The art quilts reflect a variety of art movements, from
Impressionistic light studies and abstract forms to realism. This is the
fourth year the Museum has presented Pushing the Surface,
sponsored by the Montgomery Foundation.

Ohio prehistoric Archaeology: Field Finding and
Collecting with Mark Hersman
Popular speaker on American
Indian artifacts, Mark Hersman, will conduct a series of four classes on
Thursday, April 7,14,21 and 28 from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M.
at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum. The fee for the course is $45 plus
$20 for an archaeology kit. Students will build this kit to assist in
field study. It will be assembled from materials discussed in the
coursework. The course will consist of lecture and hands-on experiences
while working with materials from Coshocton county and vicinity. There
will also be a session with a flint knapper. Come and join the fun, hone
your skills and share your experiences with other enthusiasts. To

Don’t forget to attend Alice Hoover’s first-person
portrayal of Phoebe Denman on Thursday, March 31 at 7:00
P.M. Phoebe’s story will give viewers a picture of life in a
canal-era town. This event is free to the public.
